Ashley Revell - Roulette BettorRoulette Gambler Bets $135,000 on One Spin |
|
In
2004, a London England native named Ashley Revell sold everything
he owned to place a huge bet on a single spin of the roulette wheel.
Revell's total for everything he owned was $135,300, which he bet on red
as the world watched on Britain's Sky one television broadcast the event
on their reality series "Double or Nothing". (He won the bet, by the
way.)Ashley Revell said in an interview with CNN that he thought long and hard about placing his bet on black, but as the croupier was spinning the ball, Revell remembered that the Sky viewers had voted for him to place the bet on red. Revell also mentioned in the interview that his father disapproved of the entire stunt and told him he should get a job and work like other kids do. And Ashley Revell also said after winning the bet that it was a "mad" thing to do, and he'd never do it again. You can watch a video of Ashley Revell's roulette bet below:
UK online bookmaker Blue Square donated some money toward Revell's bet in exchange for him changing his middle name to "Blue Square". So Ashley's full name is "Ashley Blue Square Revell". Revell used his winnings to help set up a poker site called Poker United. |
